Under the auspices of the President of the Republic and the exclusive sponsorship of MTN, the Yemeni Development Networks for NGOs organized the Partnership and Development Conference for NGOs in the Islamic World at Orphans’ Development Foundation Hall on Thursday the 20th of February 2014 AD, whereas 32 delegations representing Arab and Islamic States participated in this conference. The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Moamar Al-Aryane, delivered a speech on behalf of the President of the Republic at the opening ceremony welcoming the attendees and wishing for the conference a great success and to achieve its objects and future perceptions.
As well as, the Vice President of Yemeni Development Networks for NGOs, Dr. Abdul Raqib Obad, delivered a speech explaining thereby the nature of the network’s work and the necessities behind its establishment in addition to the most important projects and achievements carried out by the network in particular “My Skills” project carried out through the network and MTN Charity Foundation partnership.
In the same frame, two other speeches were delivered to the attendees: the first speech was delivered by the Former President of the Union of NGOs in the Islamic World, Mr. Najme Sadek Oghlo, and the second speech was delivered by the Vice President of the Union of NGOs in the Islamic World, Mr. Ali Kort, stating thereby the common principles of the NGOs’ work and role in accelerating the development wheel in the countries where they operate, highlighting the depth of the relationship between the Islamic people as well as the establishment of the Union of NGOs in the Islamic World and the practical steps that must be taken in order to enhance the self-confidence and the intellectual and civilizational cross-fertilization and affirming that the conference will contribute in exchanging expertise and experiments in the countries of the Islamic World as a step towards enriching and supporting the current expertise by successful models from all the countries participating in the conference.
At the end of the conference, HE the Turkish Ambassador, Mr. Fazli Corman, delivered a speech expressing thereby his satisfaction over the progress realized by Yemen in the national reconciliation and congratulating the Yemenis for the success of the National Dialogue Conference as well as stating that he strongly believes that Yemen will eventually take its notable and ordinary position and overcome all the difficulties and challenges.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, Mr. Mohamed Al-Hawere, and the Undersecretary of the Capital Secretariat of Sana'a City, Mr. Abdul Aziz Zahra, as well as a number of invitees including national and international foundations and organizations attended the ceremony.
Aside from the works of “Partnership and Development Conference” that was held for two days, an exhibition was also held for national foundations and organizations.
